File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to PDC
You can access PDC's FTP site to send us large files
or to download files that we make available. There are two directories
that are generally available:
- /incoming
- This directory is used for you to send us files. Note that once you
have uploaded a file, you cannot upload a file again with the same
name. Therefore, if the file transfer process is somehow interrupted,
you will need to change the name of the file in some way before attempting
to send the file again. Also, files you upload to the site will
not be visible to you after uploading. This is a security
feature so that files can be sent to us but not be available to the general
public after we get them. After uploading files to us, please send
an e-mail to the PDC Web Site
Coordinator to notify us that the files have been sent.
Otherwise, we may not be aware that you have sent us a file.
- /pub
- This directory is used for files that we make available. Sometimes,
we put files here for clients on a temporary basis, particularly if the
client's web access does not permit secure FTP access (e.g., one where you
must enter an ID and password).

Using FTP Access on PDC's Web Site
You will need a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program
to send and receive files from our web site. Some free FTP programs
include (note: we do not develop, support or verify the integrity of these
programs):
Most INTERNET browsers (FireFox, Internet Explorer,
etc.) can be used to download files from FTP site. You can
"right-click" on a file with your mouse and then select "Save
As" to download a file. For example, you could do this with any file
in PDC's public FTP site (pdc-cables.com/pub).
Internet Explorer can also be used for uploading
files. Basic instructions follow:
Internet Explorer 7.0 or Greater
- From the View Menu, select "Open FTP Site in
Windows Explorer" (the "Menu Toolbar" must be visible)
or
- Select the "Page" drop-down menu and
the select "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer"
You can then drag-and-drop files into the FTP site
that is opened in Windows Explorer.
Older Versions of Internet Explorer
Usually, you can "right-click" on the page
in Internet Explorer (not Windows Explorer) and then select "Login
As". You should then enter an anonymous login.
